What is “From Equatorial Icecaps to Polar Deserts”

This academic blog will be open to a discussion on any topic. Topics from mountain glaciers on the Equator, to the vapid air masses over the Poles … from mid-latitude maple forests to subtropical rice paddies… from the gravity waves of the upper atmosphere to the steam fog over your morning coffee …

Geography, Popular Culture … the Geography of Popular Culture. Science.

Or if you like … in all capital letters: SCIENCE!

I am a Climatologist by my most recent educational degree. I am employed as a Geography Professor. Academics-wise — I consider myself a “generalist”. I have an interest in several different fields. I like to write about the Geography of Popular Culture, the Geography of Religions, Japanese Culture, Climatology and Science topics in general. Sometimes I do real research.

I do not like to use any social media. I would never want to be on Facebook. I see no point to Twitter.

However … I do like blogging! I also enjoy mentoring students who have research interests in geography, climatology and cultural studies.

Please join me on this blogging journey!

  1. Thank you Bob. I always enjoy your review and imput. If I have never said it before, your honest skepticism has often kept my work from falling into the “BS” category. Many times I have had to re-think an idea, and have been forced to make better arguements because you are able to point out something obvious. It is greatly appreciated.
